There have already been a number of generous individuals who have donated funds to the project. The Steering Group will also apply to philanthropic funders and a Central Government fund established for memorials of national significance.

We recognise that all of these funds are contestable and in high demand. Everyone is warmly invited to be part of establishing a permanent physical.

The Steering Group welcome your contribution. All donations - both large and small - are most welcome and will be receipted as a charitable donation.

The Eastern Bay Community Foundation will be the repository for the funds and the Whakaari Memorial Fund is a key community project of the Foundation.
